Chen Zizhong pointed out that he had been in contact with different full-time voters for days and listened to different voices in the industry, describing that his confidence in the election was "increasing" and he had received support from many colleagues in the industry.
Chen Zizhong was supported by Hu Dingxu, the former chairman of the Hospital Authority, and Fan Hongling, the current chairman. He thanked Hu Dingxu for canvassing votes for his platform, and hoped to move voters with sincerity.
He said that he has worked in public hospitals for 38 years as a nurse, and he has worked closely with professionals in different professions and organizations. He hopes to unite all the professions and achieve full-time inclusiveness after he is elected.
Chen Zizhong is concerned about the shortage of medical and nursing manpower and the tide of immigration on his social page. Denies that the "SARS deserter" has resumed work without recovering from injuries
Another candidate, He Chonghan, a member of the Central Committee of the Nurses Association, stated in an election forum that Chen Zizhong had asked for leave during the SARS outbreak in 2003.
Chen Zizhong emphasized that he was not a "SARS deserter". He recalled that on March 8, 2003 (the SARS did not officially break out in Hong Kong), he was taking care of a mentally disordered patient in the accident and emergency department, during which the patient suddenly ran in the hospital. He stopped the patient with his right hand, so he strained his right hand and shoulder, rested for a few weeks, and returned to work without healing from the injury, and joined his colleagues to fight against SARS.
The Legislative Council passed the "Doctor Registration (Amendment) Bill 2021" in its third reading earlier. In addition to the existing practice test arrangements, an alternative path for exempting foreign doctors will be introduced. After the amendment, a special registration committee will be established to formulate a list of approved overseas medical schools. Hong Kong medical graduates from the listed institutions can come to Hong Kong to practise in Hong Kong through an exemption route, and can register in Hong Kong after a five-year internship in a public hospital.
Chen Zizhong, who uses "opposing examination-free practice" as his political platform, will promote the government to set up a task force after entering the parliament. The members include representatives of frontline doctors to monitor the qualifications, performance and level of overseas doctors practicing in Hong Kong, and require relevant doctors to be assessed. "If there is a problem with an overseas doctor, I will immediately speak out, zoom in and ask the doctor to check the microphone (the overseas doctor's performance is appropriate)."
