Strobl warns of Telegram as a platform for terrorism

Baden-Württemberg's Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) has issued an urgent warning against the planning of terrorist attacks via the Telegram network.

In Saxony, people had already agreed to horrific acts of violence via Telegram, said Strobl, who is also the CDU federal vice-president, on Wednesday in the state parliament in Stuttgart.

"Do we really want to allow attacks and a new terrorism to be planned, arranged and possibly prepared for terrorist attacks in dark channels?"

Stuttgart - asked Strobl.

"Telegram - that is a problem because perpetrators feel they are in a safe room there and the access rights for our authorities are limited." That must now change quickly, said Strobl in the direction of the traffic light government in Berlin.

Telegram must be obliged to immediately surrender the data of criminals and to delete criminal content.
