Covid-19: Russian double-edged sword propaganda

While the Kremlin is regularly accused of disseminating false information about Covid-19 or Western vaccines, a significant portion of Russians still refuse vaccination against a background of loss of confidence in its leaders.

Only 43% of the 146 million Russians are vaccinated against the disease.

The Russian authorities are also suspected of having launched a campaign to denigrate Western vaccines in order to promote Sputnik V, developed by the Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya.

Last August, Facebook announced in particular that it had detected a disinformation operation against AstraZeneca and Pfizer-BioNTech, organized by a British communications firm called Fazze.
