Each time he goes to the Silver Boudoir, room in the Élysée Palace where Napoleon signed these bitter lines, a President of the Republic at the end of his mandate cannot fail to think of this precedent and measures the uncertainty of his position: how, when he will represent himself in front of the country, to avoid the electoral defeat which would lead him to also write:
"My political life is finished"
