There is growing concern about the spread of the Omicron variant - strict measures along the way:
In recent discussions in the Ministry of Health, the possibility of declaring all the countries of the world red has been raised.
The option was raised as a stricter version of the recommendations that the ministry is expected to present to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz.
There is currently no such decision and its chances of realization at the moment do not seem high, but it is in discussions held among the top of the ministry.
However, it is estimated that in view of the rapid spread of corona disease in a variety of countries around the world, and in view of the consistent increase in the rate of positive tests among those returning to Israel via Ben Gurion Airport, the number of countries defined as red is expected to increase in the coming days.

On Sunday, their entry will be put on the list of the red states of the USA, Canada, Portugal, Turkey, Germany, Hungary, Morocco and Belgium. They are expected to officially enter the list on Tuesday night.
The reason is that the data show that the morbidity in the Omicron variant in Israel is spreading mainly due to the entry of positive Israelis from abroad through Ben Gurion Airport.
Also, instead of the green mark, the Prime Minister intends to promote the implementation of a "tight purple mark".
The exact details of the new purple character will be determined in the coming days.
