Review 'Big Brain Academy': the Nintendo game that will bring families together this Christmas

2021-12-17T21:17:09.899Z

Put your mental agility to the test in the latest version of 'Big Brain Academy' for Nintendo Switch which was released at a really low price.

Over the years, Nintendo rallied families and friends around its consoles and the Switch is not far behind with video games like 'WarioWare: Get it Together' (

USD $ 52.50 /

MX $ 899) or 'Mario Party Superstars' (

 USD $ 64.99 /

 MX $ 1,690).

And now we have a new game that will test all your mental agility in a fun way: 'Big Brain Academy: Brain vs Brain' (

 USD $ 38.94 /

MX $ 729).

This title is not so much fun if you play it just because it is designed to "face" different members of the family, regardless of their age, in a group of activities divided into five categories such as memory, calculation, analysis and more.

Although in appearance it seems that the game is not complex, as you answer correctly it becomes complicated.

Some of the challenges require simple arithmetic skills, while others require you to remember increasingly complex sequences or identify an animal in a blurred image or in parts.

You will have 60 seconds to answer correctly the greatest number of challenges and the best thing is that 'Big Brain Academy: Brain vs Brain' rewards you for your correct answers and not for the speed in which you answer.

Something that I really liked playing it with my family is that it is not a game that makes you feel frustrated (in case you are not so good at math), because every time you play you earn coins that gradually unlock items such as hats, glasses and clothing for let your avatar use them.

History of 'Big Brain Academy'

If you do not know this franchise you should know that it has been a long time since its debut.

It was in 2005 when the first title came to the Nintendo DS in which you had to face various memory challenges that increased in difficulty and after the success more games were released.

14 years after its last installment, 'Big Brain Academy: Brain vs Brain' (

 USD $ 38.94 /

MX $ 729) the formula is repeated but with a more competitive multiplayer that will put your family and friends to see who is the smartest through 20 minigames.

  • All the details of the new map and objects of 'Fortnite'

In addition, now it gives you the possibility to practice individually to win gold medals or take an exam where you will be randomly challenged in a game of each category to obtain a brain rating.

At the end of the challenges, you will be shown a pentagonal diagram with your strengths and weaknesses highlighting the areas in which you need to improve.

Multiplayer is a great success ... if you have accessories

I faced my brothers and my mom and I must say it was a lot of fun.

Even my sister said that she would only compete in a few rounds to go to sleep and she stayed a lot longer than how much she liked the game.

In multiplayer mode you can face directly between four players although you must have extra pairs of Joy-Con (

 USD $ 83.94 /

MX $ 1,970) or controls (

USD $ 22.99 /

MX $ 499) as each player needs to have their own.

It is this competitive dimension that adds a lot of fun to 'Big Brain Academy: Brain vs Brain'.

If there are two instead of four players you can also try the multiplayer mode although I recommend that you do it in the portable mode of the Nintendo Switch as they will use the touch screen.

This gives the game some good versatility and variety in play forms if you are looking for a party title that is suitable for the whole family.

  • 'Halo Infinite' is one of the best video games of the year and this is why

You can also play online and improve your Big Brain world ranking in Ghost Clash.

In this mode you fight against ghost data from other friends and family that are registered on your console or with people from another part of the world.

conclusion

This is the best game in the 'Big Brain Academy' series, but there is still a lot of potential to be exploited and more with a console like the Nintendo Switch.

I think playing the portable mode version on the new OLED version (

Exhausted

at 24 MSI on Amazon) should be a better experience because of the space on screen for two players to go head-to-head.

It's one of the best party game options on Switch and one that's suitable for everyone in the family.

In addition, I liked the customization options for the avatar where you can choose from its accessories to a phrase that represents it.

It is a video game that will undoubtedly bring families and friends together and that I would recommend to do something different and fun during the holidays.
