A strong northeast monsoon is affecting southern China.
At 5 o'clock in the morning, the strong typhoon Rey gathered about 260 kilometers east-northeast of Nansha. It is expected to move westward at a speed of about 28 kilometers per hour and traverse the southern part of the South China Sea.
The weather in Hong Kong today is forecast to be generally cloudy, dry, cool in the morning, sunny during part of the day, with a maximum temperature of about 21 degrees, moderate to a fresh northerly wind, and occasional strong winds offshore and on high ground.
The Observatory has issued an amber fire hazard warning, indicating that fires are prone to occur. The public should be careful to prevent fires, and those on outings should also be careful to prevent hill fires.

According to the Transport Department, the only traffic lane between Tung Lung Road and Tung Tsing Road, which was closed earlier due to emergency maintenance of water mains, on Tung Tau Village Road (toward Fung Wu Street) has now been released.
Due to urgent drainage repairs, part of the traffic lanes on Mong Kok Road (towards Sai Yee Street) near Canton Road is now closed. Motorists can only use the remaining traffic lanes.
