Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky reiterated his country's concern that terrorists in Idlib continue to obstruct the implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 2585 related to the delivery of humanitarian convoys to the needy, calling for international insurance for the success of this operation.
In a speech during a meeting of the UN Security Council today, Polyansky said that "the delivery of humanitarian aid to Idlib, which is controlled by terrorists in the absence of its distribution mechanisms, is a source of concern for Russia," noting that the aid shipment that was delivered from Aleppo to Sarmada in Idlib province last August could not be distributed. The residents of the province only during the current month.
"Our concerns are related to what is happening directly in Idlib, which has been controlled by terrorists who have conquered all areas of people's lives, including their freedom of movement," Polyansky added.
Polyansky stressed the urgent need for UN international security in the region, which would help increase confidence in the distribution mechanism.
Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, confirmed earlier during a Security Council session that Syria continues to provide the necessary facilities to the United Nations and its competent agencies to implement Resolution 2585 in return for its obstruction by the Turkish regime and its terrorist tools in Idlib.
