Today, the Ministry of Awqaf launched the book on the Islamic-Christian relationship “affection and brotherhood” for Syria as a model for the world in the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East, as part of the celebrations of the people of Syria on the glorious Christmas of the birth of Christ, the Messenger of love and peace.

The Minister of Endowments, Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Sattar Al-Sayed, stressed in his speech that the sons of Syria, Muslims and Christians, live in one family where love, brotherhood and respect prevail.

Al-Sayyid pointed out that the Christians of Syria were the ones who embraced Islam when it arrived in Syria and from there it set out to spread its light to the world, as the light of Christianity that came from Syria spread throughout the world before that, explaining that the Marian cathedral contains a copy of the Omari Covenant, and the Umayyad Mosque houses the shrine of the Prophet of God Yahya “John the Baptist.” in Christianity.

In turn, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and the rest of the East, John X, affirmed that the people of Syria were and still live in brotherhood of faith, Christians and Muslims in harmony and love, and the forces of atonement and extremism were unable to separate them.

Patriarch John X stressed that the Christians of Syria, as well as its Muslims, are committed to their land and their one life in it, and the forces of terrorism and infidelity will not be able to push them to migrate from it or to live alone, but rather they will remain as they have always been united brothers.

The book, written in Arabic, English and Russian, talks about the distinction of the Islamic-Christian relationship in Syria with a unique character, and the unique model of Syria, which can serve as a role model for every people and homeland, and which terrorism tried to sabotage but failed because the depth of civilization was deeper and because the great people of Syria refused to surrender to terrorism.

The book launch ceremony was attended by the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Youssef Al-Absi, heads and representatives of the Christian denominations in Damascus, the Ministers of Local Administration, Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, Tourism, Engineer Muhammad Rami Martini, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Culture Dr. Lubana Mushawah, Media Dr. Boutros Al-Hallaq, and State Dr. Diala Barakat, and a member of the leadership The central party of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, Dr. Mahdi Dakhlallah, and the President of the Union of Scholars of the Levant, Dr. Tawfiq Ramadan Al-Bouti. The ceremony was also attended by the Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, the Secretary of the Damascus Branch of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, Hussam Al-Samman, a number of ministers’ assistants, the directors of the endowments of Damascus and Tartous, a number of members of the People’s Assembly and Accredited ambassadors in Damascus and a group of Islamic scholars and Christian clergy.
