Russian President Vladimir Putin today ratified an agreement between Russia and Tajikistan to form a unified regional air defense system.
"The agreement fully meets Russia's interests and will have a positive effect on ensuring the security of the two countries," Andrei Kartapolov, head of the Defense Committee of the Russian State Duma, told RIA Novosti news agency.
With the ratification of the agreement, Tajikistan joins the unified air defense system of the CIS member states.
