The information was confirmed by the director of the investigation on behalf of the FBI, Special Agent Matthew de Sereno tonight (Sunday).
"We will continue to process the evidence in the synagogue, for now there is no indication that more people are involved," they wrote.
"Authorities have identified Malik Faisal Akram, a 44-year-old British citizen," the investigation team said in a statement.
An FBI team is investigating the scene and gathering evidence, along with other bodies.

The investigators' earlier assumption was that this was a complex "international arms" incident, the assessment was based on the fact that Malik Faisal Akram allegedly sought the release of Afia Sidiki, a Pakistani neurologist imprisoned in Texas on suspicion of links to al-Qaeda .
