Hanover – The criticism that children and young people in Lower Saxony should soon be subject to the 2G rule in the wake of the corona pandemic has been enormous in recent weeks.
It is now clear: This Corona rule will not currently exist in politics in the north-west.
This was announced by government spokeswoman Kathrin Riggert on Tuesday during the weekly press conference of the Corona crisis team in Hanover.

"The situation is currently not such that you have to tighten it up," said Riggert on Tuesday afternoon at the state press conference.
However, it cannot be ruled out that the 2G rule for young people will come into play in the future.

The situation in the hospitals will continue to be monitored closely, said Riggert.
During the press conference, Riggert was unable to say exactly what the regulation could look like if the situation escalated accordingly.
"You will have to regulate that when the time comes."

For six to eleven year olds, this value is currently 2143, a week ago the incidence in this group was 948, for 12 to 19 year olds the 7-day incidence is currently 896. For the entire state of Lower Saxony the incidence on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, according to the Robert Koch Institute at 752.2.
Another rule in the federal state, on the other hand, was suspended by the Lüneburg Higher Administrative Court (OVG).
This affects the 2G regulation for the use of outdoor sports facilities.
As the court announced on Tuesday, the 14th Senate granted an urgent request from a golfer who has not been vaccinated or recovered.
The regulation in the Corona Ordinance is not compatible with the general principle of equality.
The decision is final.
Although the regulation for team sports is also abolished, the judges decided that it could be prescribed.
The current Corona Ordinance in Lower Saxony is still valid until February 2nd.
The new version will probably contain changed rules for this area of sport.
Even before Christmas, the OVG had overturned the 2G rule in retail: Even people who have not been vaccinated against the corona virus can go shopping in Lower Saxony.
The OVG had also suspended the stricter measures for body-related services, such as hairdressers.
Since then, even unvaccinated people can go to the hairdresser or beautician with a negative test.
Corona rules in Lower Saxony: The upper limit of 500 spectators in professional sports remains in place
However, the upper limit of 500 spectators in professional sports will remain in place according to the state government's plans.
“Lower Saxony is planning neither tightening nor easing.
This means that we are still adhering to the fact that events are only permitted with up to 500 people," explained a government spokeswoman.
Bavaria had previously announced on Tuesday that it would allow up to 10,000 spectators in the Bundesliga.
In addition to this upper limit, a maximum occupancy of 25 percent of the audience capacity should apply there.
In their corona consultations on Monday, the federal and state governments were unable to agree on a common line on the question of professional sport.
A consensus is to be reached by February 9th.
