Lt. Gen. (Res.) Yariv Lev Ari, an intelligence officer who was fatally wounded during his military service, participated last weekend in the "Israman" Iron Man competition held in Eilat.

In the competition, Lev Ari used crutches with a special foot, which allows access to the water line without sinking in the sea sand, developed by engineers from the Tomer company - a government security company.

Lev Ari was injured a few years ago in a serious car accident and was fatally evacuated to the hospital, where doctors were forced to amputate his leg.

On his way back from swimming and riding training while on his bike a truck hit him and crushed him under it.

"I received 27 doses of blood and was told that if the artery had been torn a few millimeters in the upper part I would not have been alive," he said in an interview with an online sports magazine called "SHVOONG". Who started training at three-thirty in the morning and participated in triathlons.

As part of Restart's activities, Tomer's development engineers, who are a national knowledge center in the field of rocket propulsion and develop the Arrow missile and Ofek satellite engines, volunteered to develop crutches for him with a special leg with which he could return to participate in competitions.

The engineers were able to overcome the problem of sunset in the sand through special development.

This weekend, Yariv participated in the Israman competition in Eilat.

He was joined by two engineers from the Tomer project team, and they supported and accompanied him on a journey that began with swimming and continued with running.

This is the third time that an opponent has participated in the competition, which is considered one of the most difficult in Israel.
