Corona situation report for daycare centers: the number of infected people has increased

The number of daycare centers that had to close due to corona has skyrocketed in North Rhine-Westphalia, as has the number of infected children and employees.
This emerges from the latest situation report by the State Ministry for Family Affairs.
Düsseldorf – According to preliminary figures from the state youth welfare offices, the number of infected daycare children increased fivefold from December (3014) to January to more than 15,000.
The number of infected employees also increased almost fivefold from 1798 to 8406.
On an average working day in January, 168 facilities had to remain closed (around 44) or partially (around 124) due to the pandemic.
That is more than twice as many as were reported in December: On average, only 42 facilities had to remain partially and around 20 completely closed.
According to the table, 1.6 percent of the subsidized daycare centers were affected by closures in January (December: 0.6 percent).

The Family Ministry surveys the 10,600 subsidized day care centers and the 186 youth welfare offices for child day care every week.
According to the information, every second day care center took part in the survey in the 4th calendar week.
