Another five postal finance centers in Munich will close - some of them are due to stop operating at the end of March.
Swiss Post is looking for a replacement and makes promises.
Munich – In Munich*, another five Postbank finance centers will be closed this year: the Theresienstraße 22 and Alter Hof 6-7 branches are to be closed by the end of March.
At the end of September, Korbinianstraße 34, Romanplatz 1 and Hofmannstraße 15 will follow (see below).

Post in Munich: "It won't happen that we close without having a replacement"
The company is looking for a replacement, and Helmut Muhr, the postal policy officer, also promised that no branch would be closed beforehand.
“We set the dates internally.
It will not happen that we close a branch without having a replacement for it, ”said Muhr at an information event on Thursday, which was attended by city councilors and members of some district committees in addition to representatives of the administration.
Most recently, four of the postal finance centers had to be closed, which was not necessarily received euphorically by the people of Munich.
In addition to the closure of the branches on Agnesstrasse and Angererstrasse, the closure of the post office on Fraunhoferstrasse and Bergmannstrasse in particular met with a lack of understanding among residents.
"The people of Munich rightly see this as a service of general interest," said Kurt Kapp, the city director in the Department for Labor and Economics.
There are a number of applications from the district committees and the city council to immediately provide a replacement.
Post in Munich: The company no longer operates its own branches
“We at Swiss Post aren’t very happy either,” said Muhr.
In fact, his company can do little about it, because it is a decision of the cooperation partner.
Because 30 years ago, the Post decided to no longer operate branches itself, but to look for partners.
For example, there are post offices in grocery stores or department stores, but also at Deutsche Bank.
In turn, for economic reasons, it decided to close 200 of these branches nationwide, and there are nine items on the cross-off list in Munich*.
The reasoning is understandable, says Muhr.
“If you take an objective look at how the banking and savings bank landscape has changed as a result of new customer behavior.” That means: a lot more is happening online than years ago.
However, the statement that the post office is operating fewer and fewer branches is wrong.
In Munich alone there are now 455 branches, parcel shops, Packstations or points of sale, in 2011 there were 146 (without parcel shops). Muhr: "Munich is actually quite yellow."
