T., a 20-year-old resident of Be'er Sheva, was found lifeless in her apartment in Be'er Sheva. The circumstances of the death have not yet been determined, but it was learned that the young woman recently called the police when she was suffering from suicidal thoughts and threatened to end her life. A police officer who answered her call at Hotline 100 responded with contempt and called her to commit suicide.
In the transcript of the conversation between the two that took place a few weeks ago, the policeman was heard saying to T.: "God has not taken you yet? Will you commit suicide quietly?" Indeed, on the night between Thursday and Friday, the young woman's body was found. Her funeral will be held tomorrow morning in the city cemetery.
In response to the publication of the unusual incident, the police said: "We share the family's grief over her loss. Regarding the conduct of the police officer during the call to the hotline, we take it very seriously, conduct that is inconsistent with police values and behavioral norms.
The announcement further states: "Accordingly, a disciplinary procedure was initiated against the police officer, the police officer was removed from his position following the case and in addition he was removed from working with an audience, and a proceeding is currently underway to examine his continued service in the organization."
The Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev, commented on the case and wrote: "In memory of T. from Be'er Sheva, I will do things differently and look different. The days are over when the responsibility is only on the shoulders of the policeman at the end. ".
