Advances in Amnesty Tax Removal Procedure | Israel today

Following Finance Minister Lieberman's request to remove the tax exemption for Amnesty International, Minister Saar supported the move and it will be submitted to the Constitution Committee for approval.


Following the storm of the Amnesty organization's report, Justice Minister Gideon Saar today (Saturday) approved the regulations to prevent Israel from being harmed by a boycott, after receiving a request during the week regarding Finance Minister Lieberman. "After examining the matter, the Minister of Justice expressed his consent. The regulations are subject to the approval of the Knesset's Constitution, Law and Justice Committee," he was quoted as saying.

Minister Gideon Saar said that "the State of Israel must fight the foolish attempts to boycott it, which are part of a broader process of attempts to delegitimize the Jewish state."

Following the signing of the regulations and their approval by the Knesset's Law, Constitution and Justice Committee, Finance Minister Lieberman intends to order an examination of Amnesty Organization's actions in accordance with the mechanisms proposed in the regulations in order to impose on the organization the statutory restrictions.

Earlier this week, Amnesty International released a special 211-page report defining Israel as an apartheid state that commits war crimes and claims that it has no right to exist as a state in its current form. Michael Litwok, a special letter to the Minister of Finance in which he demanded the immediate denial of the tax benefit, section 46, given to the Israeli branch of Amnesty International.
