The plastic artist Bassam Al-Hajali delved into deep intellectual and spiritual worlds through the works of his solo exhibition entitled “Dialectics 2..3..4,” presenting a package of polemics and contradictions with a visual and aesthetic vision of his own.
The exhibition hosted by Ishtar Gallery included 29 oil paintings, in sizes dominated by large sizes, with the presence of some small works, and in an abstract expressionist style, with a lot of chromatic harmony and a play on the dimensions and psychological climate of the painting.
Regarding the exhibition, the artist Al-Hajali said in a statement to SANA, “I present through the paintings of this exhibition the human life and its relationship with the elements of the universe through the contradictory binaries and what it creates of a dialectical situation, trying to devote the spiritual relationship in the painting through composition and chromatic harmony to find its intersections at the midpoint.”
Al-Hajali explained that the polemics that he presents in his paintings are a space, a point, or a dividing line between dualities, such as life and death, female and male, time and space, earth and sky, light and darkness and others to infinity, penetrating the three dimensions into the soul and related concepts such as The Day of Judgment, the self is attached to money, and a person is judged by his fellow human being.
Al-Hajali indicated that he tries in his paintings to ask many questions to which the mind did not find answers so that the soul alone realizes the origin of things and their relationship to each other within the premise of the dialectic continuing to infinity in the human journey to reach the truth of existence.
