Peak tensions in Ukraine: US and Russia swap verbal blows Israel today

2022-02-06T19:44:25.902Z

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan rejected Moscow's claims that his country was preparing for war in Ukraine and said there was a good chance that Russia was the one to attack its neighbor.

The United States and Russia tonight (Sunday) exchanged accusations surrounding military tensions in Ukraine and the possibility of a Russian invasion of its neighbor’s territory to the west.

Moscow officials have accused Washington of waging war and claiming that the transfer of thousands of American troops to Poland and Romania is proof of the United States' intention to act against Russia and its desire to drag the entire region into war.

On the other hand, President Biden's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, rejected the Russian accusations and said that it was Moscow who could start the war.

"We believe that Putin is indeed capable of invading Ukraine and that it could happen in some forms. It could happen tomorrow or take a few weeks," Sullivan said in a press briefing.

"Putin is at a point where he is capable, in terms of military deployment, of launching a campaign at any given moment. We are determined to work with our allies to find a diplomatic solution to the situation, but we will be prepared to respond to any Russian action, no matter when it occurs," Sullivan said.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Schultz left for Washington tonight with the aim of meeting with President Biden and discussing with him the solution to the ongoing military tensions in Ukraine.

Schultz was severely criticized for refusing to send military aid to Ukraine and the mayor of Kiev even said that Berlin's conduct was a "knife in the back of the country."

"Kiev will fall in two days"

Meanwhile, the United States is preparing for the worst militarily.

According to a report in the Washington Post, experts in the American intelligence community estimate that if Russian President Putin decides to invade his neighbor to the west, it will only take him two days to occupy the capital Kiev.

If that is not enough, the number of dead and wounded in the battle is expected to be about 50,000, which will lead to a humanitarian crisis that will include about five million refugees.

According to experts, preparations for the invasion have reached the last line and in the last two weeks the order of Russian forces has jumped from 60 tactical battalion units to 83 units (each of which has about 750 soldiers).

In other words, 70 percent of the Russian military forces needed for the invasion are already ready for command.

The forces themselves number about 62,000 troops, along with tens of thousands of units of combat and logistics supporters, with almost all the most important units of invasion that Russia has at its various bases already concentrated on the border, and thousands of commando units secretly deployed in front positions and even across the border.
