Dietramszell

- What should happen to the Ascholdinger indoor pool?

Last fall, the community finally stopped swimming.

In the meantime, the DLRG considered leasing the pool, but then said no.

Now the working group Baukultur Dietramszell should deal with the subsequent use.

The council passed the resolution at its most recent meeting.

Students from the Vienna University of Technology have taken on the topic

There are already initial ideas.

As part of the EU-funded Leader project Baukulturregion Alpenvorland, 16 architecture students from the Vienna University of Technology spent a whole semester working on the question of how village structures can be further developed using the example of Dietramszell.

One of their projects was the subsequent use of the Ascholdinger Bad.

After a week on site, they presented their proposal: the first Dietramszell cinema could be built in the almost 50-year-old swimming pool.

"A cultural use would fit well for the high room," said municipal councilor Ludwig Gröbmaier (CSU), spokesman for the Baukultur working group.

The high rooms are made for culture

The idea is not entirely new: during the panel discussion of the mayoral candidates before the local elections in 2020, Erno Vroonen, chairman of the cultural association, suggested redesigning the pool as a cultural stage.

However, during the municipal council meeting, the second mayor, Anton Huber, referred to the dilapidated substance of the building.

After discussions with the structural engineer Hans Raßhofer, who has been dealing with the bathroom for years, he came to the conclusion: "There is probably no chance of a renovation.

From what we know so far, demolition is cheaper.” Prior to subsequent use, further points need to be clarified: in addition to the building statics, fire protection must be checked, a building application for the change of use must be submitted and the assembly site regulations must be observed.

In order to clarify these and any other points, the municipal administration suggested founding a working group on indoor swimming pools within the council.

Karl März (FW) pleaded for such a group – in addition to the already existing building culture group.

"We have to get the Ascholdingers on board," he argued.

His assessment: Many residents have felt neglected by the municipality for a long time because, in their opinion, they have not taken care of the bathroom enough.

"The building culture is too architect-heavy for me," said March, who himself is at home in the vicinity of the bath.

Bernhard Fuchs (also from FW) contradicted this: “That is precisely the basic idea of building culture, that everyone can participate and get involved.

The village community can only benefit from the wide-ranging potential of the previous group with a lot of planning know-how.

Jakob Pertold also advocated using the ideas of the Viennese students as an impetus to think further.

With a narrow majority, the council finally rejected the establishment of a new working group.

Instead, it commissioned the existing Baukultur working group to develop a concept for the subsequent use of the bathroom.

Interested citizens can participate - this was expressly included in the resolution.
