We are constantly told about the anxiety that the pandemic arouses, in particular in our children, and, if I believe Freud, the appearance of anxiety would be the unmistakable sign of a pathology.
For reasons that I would like to explain here, I think largely the opposite, namely that often, anxiety, although infinitely painful, is normal, even beneficial.
But, let us return first to Freud.
Essentially, anxiety would be explained according to him by the
"disintegration of the personality"
, in other words by the fragmentation of the different components ("it, me and superego") of our psychic life.
The goal of the analysis would be to return as much as possible to the subject who suffers the control of the conflicts which tear him apart in order to find the solutions allowing him to restore him in a state of
"enjoying and acting"
, to use the famous word with which Freud tried to define a semblance of normality.
