London Police Chief Cressida Dick has resigned amid criticism after a series of scandals rocked the British capital's security force and an investigation into violations of the coronavirus restrictions in Prime Minister Boris Johnson's office.
"It is very sad that after speaking with Mayor of London Sadiq Khan it became clear that the mayor no longer trusts my leadership," Dick said today, adding: "He left me no choice but to step down as Metropolitan Police Service Commissioner."
And London police announced yesterday that they are reviewing their assessment that the Christmas party that took place on December 15, 2020 did not meet the minimum level until a criminal investigation is opened, after a new picture of Johnson appeared alongside 3 of his office staff with an open bottle of champagne on the table.
The party was held during the period in force of the strict closure measures imposed in an effort to limit the spread of the Corona virus in the kingdom, which caused a scandal that almost toppled Johnson's presidency of the British government.
