Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the actions attributed to Israel in Syria and claimed that it constituted an "infringement of Damascus sovereignty" • In the attack, a Syrian officer was killed and an anti-aircraft missile battery was damaged.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zichrova this evening (Thursday) condemned the attack attributed to Israel that took place yesterday in Damascus and claimed that it was a violation of Syrian sovereignty and an action that posed a risk to civil aviation in the region.

"This is a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic. This is a serious risk to international civil aviation, without mentioning that the repeated attacks on Syrian army bases encourage the terrorist elements in Syria where the army is fighting," Zakharova said in a press release.

"We persistently and resolutely oppose the transformation of Syria into an arena of wrestling by third parties. We once again urge Israel to cease such forceful actions," the spokeswoman said.

The attack that Zichroba attributes to Israel took place in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A media outlet affiliated with the Syrian opposition reported that Israel had attacked military sites of the Assad regime and an airport near Damascus.

According to the report, the Israeli Air Force later attacked again in the Damascus area, against several targets of the Assad regime and the Iranian militias, in addition to the attack on a research center in the Jamraiya area near the capital that occurred earlier.

The IDF also destroyed the anti-aircraft battery from which the missile that exploded in Israel was fired.
