1,500 euros for a good cause: The students of the P-Seminar at Starnberg High School (from left) Tim Barth, Anne Stratmann, Malik El Harti, Lucius Weingart and Simon Nirschl donated the proceeds from their cookbook, which was published shortly before Christmas, to the Starnberger Tafel.

Aspiring high school graduates from the Starnberg Gymnasium published and sold their own cookbook before Christmas.

They donated the proceeds to the Starnberger Tafel - and received a lot of praise for it.

Starnberg – Pupils at Starnberg High School have impressively demonstrated that a cookbook can not only be an inspiration for a tasty meal.

The recipe collection "Star Cooks" developed as part of their practical seminar was well received by the people of Starnberg and also finances a good cause.

Because the young people donated the proceeds of the project called "Foodox" to the Starnberger Tafel.

1,500 euros had been collected - the sum was emblazoned in large numbers on a huge check.

Tim Barth, Anne Stratmann, Malik El Harti, Lucius Weingart, Simon Nirschl and their classmates were able to sell almost all of the 225 copies of the cookbook that were produced.

Interested customers could buy "Star Cooks" for 19.90 euros in the book dinghy on Kirchplatz, in the bookstore Rupprecht (Maximilianstraße) and in some participating restaurants.

"This is really a super great project," said Tafel chairwoman Erika Ardelt.

“I was really surprised that we were considered.

And then with such a sum.” The generous donation goes directly to the charitable work of the table, she said.

In the P-Seminar, 16 twelfth-grade students founded the temporary student company “Foodox” and designed the cookbook.

The aim of the course was to give the students a practical understanding of economic relationships.

They had to independently develop and implement a project and overcome challenges.

"Working in the group was challenging, but we also learned an incredible amount and had a lot of fun," said student Tim Barth.

"It was a real team production."

GymSta Burger and GymSta Club Sandwich

Since restaurants and canteens had closed due to the pandemic, the students wanted to use their book to satisfy the need for good, healthy food.

Among the recipes are some of our own creations - such as the "GymSta Burger" and the "GymSta Club Sandwich".

However, most of the dishes come from local chefs.

Among others, the Forsthaus am See, the Trattoria Garibaldi and the Hotel La Villa contributed recipes.

In the end, the 36 instructions covered an arc from Italian cuisine to home-style dishes.

“The time was characterized by ups and downs.

In between we had to work from home for three months because of Corona.

That wasn't easy at all," reported Barth.

But now it's all the nicer to be able to celebrate the success.

And the favorite recipe of the proud authors?

"Well, I think the Kaiserschmarrn is great," reveals Tim Barth.

He also particularly liked the recipes from La Villa's head chef, Christoph Gessner.
