An eminent jurist and teacher, Mireille Delmas-Marty was born on May 10, 1941 in Paris.
Doctor of law and associate professor of private law and criminal sciences, she began her career as a professor at universities in Lille and Paris.
Holder since 2002 of the chair “
Comparative legal studies and internationalization of law
” of the Collège de France (then professor emeritus), she was a member since 2007 of the Institute (Academy of Moral and Political Sciences).
Doctor honoris causa of eight universities in the world, she notably chaired the monitoring committee of the European Office for the fight against fraud, was a member of the board of directors of the French Commission for Unesco, as well as special adviser to of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor and of the National Order of Merit, Mireille Delmas-Marty has signed numerous essays.
She chaired or participated in missions of reflection with various ministries and the Presidency of the Republic, on the revision of the Constitution (1992-1993), the reform of criminal procedure (1988-1990) or the future of Europe (2001).
She was married to Paul Bouchet, former lawyer, president of Lyon and president of ATD Fourth World, who died in 2019.
