The former priest and right-hand man of the former socialist minister has died suddenly at the age of 77

The Albacete-born singer Rozalén, 35, communicated sad news to her followers on Thursday morning.

Her father, Cristóbal Rozalén, had died suddenly at the age of 77.

"My father has just died... He never stopped holding me in his arms," the artist wrote on her social networks, along with a photograph of her as a girl held in his arms, both accompanied by her mother.

The signs of affection have been incessant.

From the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, to the journalist Sara Carbonero or the actor Dani Rovira, they have wanted to show their condolences, passing through, especially, many professional colleagues: Ana Belén, Antonio Carmona, Carlos Sadness, Diana Navarro, Dani de Macaco , Ana Torroja, Passion Vega, Manu Tenorio...

Rozalén: “This desire to want everyone to like me is insufferable”

One of those messages of support and affection came from Amelia Bono, daughter of former socialist minister José Bono: “Maria, I've been frozen!

One of the best people in my life.

I send you a big hug".

The relationship between the Bonos and the Rozaléns is deep and goes back a long way.

Because Cristóbal was José Bono's right-hand man throughout his entire political career, especially during his long period as president of Castilla-La Mancha.

A native of Balazote, Albacete, Cristóbal was a priest for a decade and met María de los Ángeles, who would become his wife, when he was still part of the clergy and worked in Letur (also Albacete), her town, nestled in the mountains of Segura.

In fact, they settled there and María Rozalén was born there in 1986. The singer wrote a song called

Forbidden Love

to that relationship that, in secret, her parents maintained at the beginning: when the two of us are finally together, what does it matter what they will say / Your father and your mother / Here only our love matters / I love you / Forbidden love, they murmur in the streets, because we are from different societies / Forbidden love, everyone tells us.

It was at that time that Cristóbal Rozalén began to collaborate with Bono, to whom he was an adviser for much of his political career, both as head of the autonomous community, between 1983 and 2004, and when he made the leap to the National Congress of the Deputies and already at the head of the Ministry of Defense, between 2004 and 2006. Hence, numerous political officials from Albacete and Castilla-La Mancha have expressed their condolences through social networks, including the current vice president of the region and deputy Regional Minister of the PSOE, José Luis Martínez Guijarro, who has described him as "eternal collaborator of the project of development and progress of our land".

“It was last September the last time we were able to share some words… anecdotes.

You leave us your enormous legacy, the most personal.

My condolences to family and friends."

In addition to companions, Cristóbal Rozalén and José Bono became good friends, so much so that the politician is the singer's godfather at baptism.

In October 2020, on a television program dedicated to the artist, Bono stated that he met her "because of her father, he organized my trips."

The politician also recounted the moment when he saw the girl for the first time.

“I met her in a convent, where we baptized her, and I took her in her arms.

And it turns out that 33 years later we both have more hair”, he joked, explaining that the gift from him on that day was clairvoyant: a guitar.

Rozalén also explained in a program of

Lazos de Sangre

dedicated to the former minister who for her “Pepe Bono, as he is known at home”, represents for her the story of her father: “And therefore it represents my own story.

He not only sponsored me because my father asked him to when I was a child.

I was baptized in the Carmelites of Villarrobledo [Albacete], I don't remember that, of course, but he has always known how to have details with me and take care of me in a certain way.

And of course, unintentionally, he gave me the most important gift of my life, which was a guitar, and that's where he opened Pandora's box, ”she said.

“He is a great politician”, the goddaughter praised her godfather, emphasizing “her oratory of him”.

“He is able to sell you ice at the North Pole.

Although we do not think the same about many things, we talk to each other with affection and we can talk”, she reflected.
