Cuban journalist stranded at Bogotá airport 0:45
(CNN Spanish) --
The migration authorities in Colombia reported this Thursday that the Cuban journalist Yailén Insúa Alarcón will seek refuge in that country where she was stranded at the El Dorado airport in Bogotá since February 5, when she was not accepted aboard a flight that would take her and her husband to Nicaragua.
According to Insúa, the reason that the airline staff argued is that they were “regulated” people in Cuba, which means that they cannot leave the island.
CNN contacted the Nicaraguan government to ask why the journalist and her husband are not allowed to enter.
Likewise, CNN has consulted the Cuban embassy in Washington to ask about the situation of the couple on the island, without even having an answer.
The journalist has 5 days to present the formal request to the Foreign Ministry, meanwhile she has been issued a safe-conduct to leave the airport and enter Colombian territory.
