A US official announced that the US Department of Defense "Pentagon" intends to send about seven thousand additional US troops to Germany to coincide with the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
"The aim of this new deployment, which will take place in the coming days, is to reassure NATO allies and ensure readiness in the region," as he put it, AFP quoted the unnamed official as saying.
NATO had announced earlier its intention to put reserve forces on alert and send ships and fighters under the pretext of strengthening its defenses in Eastern Europe at a time when it continues to mobilize its military forces and conduct maneuvers along the border with Russia, while ignoring Russian calls to reach an agreement on mutual security guarantees.
