Among the many puzzling reports about Shimon Leviev (or Shimon Hayut, in his real name), the man who is at the center of Doku on Netflix called "The Tinder Crook", many have continued to wonder how in light of all the evidence and information gathered about him and presented to the world, there are still some who agree his girlfriend.
Now Kate Conlin, an Israeli model dating the alleged crook, has decided to speak for the first time and defend his name.
In an interview with Inside Edition magazine (which, as I recall, also recorded an interview with Leviev himself, which led to great online criticism), Conlin said: "My God, it's like, how can anyone build such a fake story (about Leviev)."
When asked if she was asked to lend money to her current partner she replied "certainly not".
In doing so, she is trying to bolster the claims of Shimon, who insisted in an interview that he gave that not-quite-known media outlet that he is in no way a crook.
"I'm not a cheater and I'm not impersonating," he said.
"People don't know me, so they can't judge me. Overall I was a single man who wanted to meet girls on Tinder."
