Russia is advancing further and further in the Ukraine conflict, which is why the civilian population is now also being armed.

Apparently ex-President Petro Poroshenko is helping.

Kiev – The events surrounding the Ukraine conflict* are overturning, according to the civil protection authority, a rocket only hit a residential building in Kiev on Saturday morning.

The authorities are now distributing more and more weapons to the residents of the capital, the Ukrainian interior minister has confirmed.

Ex-President Petro Poroshenko apparently also took part in this distribution campaign, according to the US broadcaster CNN

reported.

In an interview with the US television station, Poroshenko can be seen in a Kiev courtyard surrounded by armed men.

When asked by the journalist how the group around him is equipped, the former president points a Kalashnikov to the camera.

They had more of these specimens, but they didn't have artillery there in the streets of Kiev.

After all, "this process only started a few days ago," Poroshenko said.

At his side are members of the military as well as ordinary Ukrainian citizens who want to arm themselves, he continues in the CNN interview.

Some of them have never been part of an army, but all are determined.

"People are queuing for guns!" Poroshenko says.

However, they didn't have enough for everyone.

Poroshenko found clear words in the interview and described Russian President Vladimir Putin* as "simply crazy" and the trigger for the war.

The ex-president is pleased that the civilian population of Ukraine is now taking up arms.

"This is very moving and a great demonstration of how much Ukrainians hate Putin and how much we oppose Russian aggression," Poroshenko said.

The concerns of the population around Kiev do not seem to be all that unfounded.

The Russian army succeeds in constantly conquering new areas.
