The hacker group Anonymous has declared a cyber war against the Russian government.
According to reports, the group has taken responsibility for overthrowing government sites in the country.
It is still unclear what targets the group has attacked and between Russia and Ukraine there are reciprocal cyber attacks in parallel with the fighting.
Cyber attacks have now become an inherent part of the weapons operated by superpowers and so they were quite predictable.
However it is important to remember the lesson of previous Russian attacks against Ukrainian targets, what starts with a targeted cyber attack can quickly trickle down to civilian targets and even uninvolved elements.
Therefore, these days it is true that bodies all over the world will exercise great caution, take care of backups and take acceptable defensive actions.
In general, the laws of war do not yet include clear answers to the question of how cyberattacks fit into the conventional equations of proportional responses and the relationship between them and kinetic attacks.
It is possible that after this round the world the accepted and unacceptable courses of action will be sharpened.
Ram Levy, founder and CEO of the cyber confidants company, commented on the report.
In addition, the Ukrainian Cyber Center announced that they had identified attacks by the Belarusian government (UNC1151 group) assisting the Russians and attacking pro-Ukrainian organizations in Belarus.
On the other hand, many organizations including Anonymous began to attack Russian targets.
"The organization published that it managed to bring down the Russian news site RT and managed to leak a database of the Russian Ministry of Defense."
