Police say they have prevented 25 assassinations in the last four months of their activities in the Arab sector, and have filed 30 indictments against members of three criminal organizations: Hariri, Jarushi and Abu Latif.
Since the beginning of Operation Safe Track to eradicate crime in the Arab sector, the police have acted against 386 targets of the operation, of which 135 were indicted accompanied by the police prosecution and the State Attorney's Office, as well as 110 defendants detained until the end of the proceedings. 30 of them belong to criminal organizations in Arab society.
Over the past four months, police have thwarted some 25 murders, planned to be carried out by criminal organizations and criminal gangs.
Since the beginning of the year, there has been a 37% decrease in the number of shooting incidents - 664 compared to 1,052 in the corresponding period last year.
Meanwhile, the police indicate that the cooperation between influential elements in the Arab sector and the police is on the rise, following the intensive activity against the criminal elements, and in this context there has been an increase in the trust of the Arab public in law enforcement agencies.
The head of the Crime Prevention Department in the Sif Division, Lt. Col. Yigal Ezra, said last week: "The operational activity of the Israel Police against perpetrators of crime yields results that translate into investigative successes.
On the one hand, we are in a significant increase in arrests until the end of the proceedings of key targets in crime, and on the other hand, we are in a significant decrease in the number of shooting incidents.
At the same time, our police officers recently thwarted a series of assassination plans, while carrying out impressive intelligence work and reaching out to the criminals even before the shooting took place. "
