Two artists from Daraa present their experience in portraiture in a duo exhibition

Their love for drawing and their desire to convey facial expressions prompted both Rami Deeb and Bushra Miqdad to enter the world of portraiture and present their products through a bilateral exhibition hosted by the Culture Palace in Daraa.

The exhibition, which was organized by the Directorate of Culture of Daraa within the “Nag and Qalam” event for amateurs, contained portrait paintings that varied between the faces of young people, the elderly, well-known actors, writers and public figures.

Regarding his passion for drawing portraits, Deeb said in a statement to SANA reporter, “I started drawing about five years ago, and the beginnings were with simple things such as drawing nature and cartoon characters, which gave me determination and love to hone my talent for drawing.”

Deeb added, "The attempts were repeated and I tried to draw in my spare time and learned from my mistakes despite the lack of possibilities and tools, indicating that perseverance and continuous training gave him the ability to draw characters through portraits and painting on wood with acrylic and on wooden sticks with watercolor."

Deeb believes that what is interesting about portraiture is drawing with a feeling and conveying facial expressions of joy, sadness or eagerness in a specific form and through paintings that mimic their reality, pointing out that his ambition is to reach a better level and participate in art exhibitions.

In turn, Bushra indicated that the portrait attracts the amateur because it is a drawing of a special kind that highlights the details of the face and shows the feelings and expressions in the features, while giving the artist the opportunity to put his feelings.
