The Russian Defense Ministry has confirmed that the Ukrainian army has begun extensive use of phosphorous-filled munitions in the outskirts of Kiev in a "desperate" attempt to contain the offensive of Russian forces.
In a statement carried by Russia Today, the ministry said that the Ukrainian army uses ammunition prohibited by the Third Protocol to the 1980 United Nations Convention on Inhumane Weapons.
The statement added: In the city of Mariupol, Ukrainian forces coming from Lviv terrorized civilians and installed armored vehicles and artillery in residential areas, using local residents as human shields.
The statement confirmed that the forces of nationalists in Severodonetsk are threatening the retreating units with execution and killed 4 officers.
The Ukrainian authorities announced that they had given the green light for foreign mercenaries to join its forces in the fight against the Russian forces on its territory.
