The walls of the Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh in Damascus were decorated with retrospective paintings that brought together different generations in the seventh retrospective exhibition of graphic art.
The exhibition, which was organized by the Directorate of Fine Arts, included about 30 paintings of various sizes and graphic art techniques, and brought up great names who had a significant impact on the upbringing of contemporary plastic generations.
The Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mushawah, said in a statement to reporters, “The exhibition is the seventh of the Ministry of Culture’s holdings of graphic art paintings dating back to the seventies of the last century and with very big names that had a great impact on rehabilitating generations of engraving artists in Syria,” indicating that taking care of graphics is an ancient art. It dates back to the sixteenth century, which is a necessity and it is the duty of our schools and educational institutions to consider plastic art as a basic subject in our educational curricula.
In turn, the plastic artist Wassim Abdel Hamid, director of the Fine Arts Directorate, pointed out that the importance of the exhibition comes from restoring the paintings of the old generation of pioneers of fine art, which are among the holdings of the Directorate of Fine Arts, in addition to the presence of paintings from the young generation who benefit from these valuable experiences, and they constitute an important cultural and civilizational heritage. .
Rana Hussein, head of the Department of Exhibitions and Collections, pointed out that the works in the exhibition are from the possessions of the Ministry and the Directorate of Fine Arts, and included three different generations, starting in the seventies, for pioneers of graphic art, indicating that the aim of the retrospective exhibition is to meet generations and benefit the young generation from the experiences of adults through practical and critical studies. .
