Tents, medicines, food... Gérald Darmanin announced the sending of more than thirty tons of humanitarian aid for the refugees.

The French state has sent 33 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Poland to help Ukrainians invaded by Russia, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin said on Monday.

More than 30 tonnes of material will also leave for Moldova at the beginning of the week.

“We have already sent 33 tonnes of material” to Poland, where thousands of Ukrainian refugees fled after the invasion of their country by Russia, declared the minister, questioned on France 2. These are “tents, medicines, food”, “everything that helps people to be welcomed in the best conditions”, he added.

"More than 30 tons" of humanitarian aid will also leave at the "early week" for Moldova, said those around him.

Two Civil Security planes "full of medicine", according to the minister, are also due to arrive in Poland on Tuesday.

“Ensuring unimpeded humanitarian access”

France must table this Monday at the UN Security Council a draft resolution "in order to guarantee unhindered humanitarian access, to meet the urgent needs of the populations remaining in Ukraine" invaded by Russia, announced Sunday evening the Elysium.

According to a UN estimate, the European Union must prepare for a humanitarian crisis of "historic proportions" in Ukraine, which could result in "more than seven million" internally displaced people if the offensive Russian continues.
