Former world chess champion Garry Kasparov, president of the pro-democracy civic organization Renew Democracy Initiative and leader of the opposition coalition The Other Russia at the turn of the century, is an outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin's government.
Kasparov has rejected the Russian invasion of Ukraine, stating that Putin "will continue to escalate the war until he is stopped."
He has also called Russia's attacks on Ukraine "inevitable."
