The man who shot a

60-year-old employee of the Municipality of Ferrara, in the center of the Emilian city

this morning, was also identified thanks to the 'targa system' on the motorway .

The man was

intercepted in Cremona

after a seven-hour escape and would not have resisted at the halt.

He was arrested jointly by the staff of the Cremona Mobile Squad and by the Carabinieri of the Operational Department of Ferrara.

It is a 56-year-old from Ferrara, with a clean record, an acquaintance of the victim.

In the quarrel between the two - perhaps colleagues - there could be personal reasons but the investigations, coordinated by the prosecutor Isabella Cavallari, are still underway to investigate the causes of the violent gesture.

The shooting

took place shortly after 11 in Ferrara in piazzetta Schiatti, at the corner of via Boccaleone.

In the historic center and in front of many witnesses, several have also taken up the scene with their cell phones.

After a fight and the scuffle between the two,

eight shots were fired from a 9-caliber pistol

.

The 56-year-old left the victim on the ground and fled.

The 60-year-old, injured, managed to drag himself a few meters to ask for help.

Then he collapsed.

He was then rushed to the Sant'Anna hospital in Cona (Ferrara), subjected to surgery, and is in

critical condition

.

The 56-year-old has lost his tracks in the alleys of the historic center.

His escape lasted seven hours and ended in Cremona.

Thanks to the police forces from the mayor of Ferrara Alan Fabbri: "There remains the apprehension for the serious conditions of the affected employee - he says - We maintain close contact with the health facilities for updates on his conditions. Thanks to the rescuers for their timely intervention and to all health personnel for what they are doing ".
