Fear is rife among Russian students at Stuttgart universities: there is talk of impending de-registration on social media.

Stuttgart - While the war is raging in Ukraine, the reactions in Germany are taking on absurd forms.

As a statement against warmongering Russia, a restaurant in Baden decided to refuse entry to Russians.

Elsewhere, a bakery wanted to ban the “Russian pound cake”.

Unnerved by such reports, Russian students at the universities in Stuttgart were now also concerned.

Rumors circulated on social networks that students from Russia were being expelled because of Putin's attack on Ukraine, as reported by BW24*.

As the

Stuttgarter Zeitung

reports, concerned Russian students have come forward at the University of Stuttgart and the University of Hohenheim who fear that they will be exmatriculated.

There have been rumors of this kind on social media.

According to the

StZ

, the universities were able to refute the fake news.

"These are false reports.

If you have any questions or problems, you can contact the International Office,” said the University of Hohenheim.

The University of Stuttgart also confirmed that the Ukraine war had no impact on Russian students.

University of Stuttgart: Exchange program for students with Russia paralyzed

While the students in Stuttgart themselves do not have to fear any consequences, the University of Stuttgart declared that the exchange program with Russia was paralysed.

"So if a Russian citizen plans to come to us through an exchange program, it won't work," the university said.

In addition, the University of Stuttgart has stopped relations with Russian scientific institutions until further notice.

The University of Hohenheim reacted a little more mildly: As Rector Stephan Dabbert explained, the dialogue with Russian scientists should be continued - even if state subsidies for Russian educational institutions are abolished.

Many of the university contacts from Russia would condemn Vladimir Putin's war.

University of Hohenheim: "These students can do absolutely nothing for the war"

"These students can do absolutely nothing for the war," said Andreas Pyka, Hohenheim Vice President for Internationalization.

It is important to give them backing and not to let the dialogue break down, especially among young people.

University spokeswoman Dorle Elsner also emphasizes that the university makes no distinction between the nationalities of the students and also supports Russian students in times of crisis.

BW24

also

dedicated a comment to the subject of Russian hatred in Germany as a result of Putin's war - and encourages people not to be tempted to draw absurd conclusions in these times.
