Thousands arrive in Moldova from Ukraine.

Ursula Reisch from Unterschweinbach is therefore sending an aid delivery to the already very poor country.

In the district of Fürstenfeldbruck, a large number of Ukrainian war refugees are to be housed in the annex of the anchor center at the air base.

County

– More and more war refugees from Ukraine attacked by Russia are reaching the county.

The first few people arrived on Wednesday.

On Thursday, "a large number" of Ukrainian citizens were expected in the annex of the anchor center.

This was announced by the responsible government of Upper Bavaria.

How many exactly cannot yet be quantified, according to the authority.

The situation is constantly changing.

The first point of contact for refugees in the region without private contacts is the arrival center in Munich.

There was a great rush on Thursday.

An inventory is currently taking place in order to clarify, together with the district administration authorities and municipalities, where further free places are available and where refugees can be accommodated in Upper Bavaria.

In addition, it should be determined how existing capacities can be expanded and how apartments can be offered directly.

Many refugees in the Republic of Moldova

But not everyone wants to go to Germany.

Many people are fleeing to Ukraine's neighboring countries, including the Republic of Moldova.

This is one of the poorest countries in Europe and itself needs help.

Ursula Reisch from Unterschweinbach knows the country well.

For the past three years, the 45-year-old has been traveling to Moldova to help with her organization “Country Without Borders”.

Above all, it brings relief supplies for social institutions, hospitals and orphanages into the country.

Now she is organizing the next transport – this time for war refugees from Ukraine.

Most of the refugees would stay close to the border, hoping to be able to return to their homes soon.

The majority came by car.

The Moldovans' willingness to help is impressive, says Reisch.

Some of the refugees are housed privately or taken care of in hotels that are provided free of charge and in well-organized smaller tent camps.

Restaurants offer free meals for people.

Still more help needed

In Moldova it is assumed that the war will last for a long time.

With the next wave of refugees, people would come on foot – and they would need a lot more help.

That's why Reisch is asking the people in the district for their help with their next aid transport.

Second-hand goods are needed, such as flashlights, kettles, sleeping bags, crutches, walking sticks or wheelchairs.

For reasons of hygiene, only new soaps, toothbrushes and toothpastes, creams, diapers, monthly hygiene items, incontinence products, gloves, bandages, masks and batteries can be accepted in their original packaging.

By March 23, Reisch would like to send a large truck with relief supplies on its way.

“It costs money to help,” she says.

Therefore, she is happy for any financial support.

Items can be handed in daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Mayor-Langwieder-Strasse 9 in Egenhofen or at one of your collection points in the greater Munich area.

Further information is available on the Internet at www.land-ohne-eltern.de or from Ursula Reisch on telephone (0171) 1 77 27 23.

Twin town hands out assault rifles

People also need support in Eichenau's twin town of Vischgorod.

A first delivery of aid from the Starzelbach arrived in the twin town of Vischgorod on Thursday night.

These include medical equipment, medicines, anesthetics and baby food.

Eichenau's mayor, Peter Münster, coordinates the assistance provided in the community and is in regular contact with his Ukrainian counterpart, Aleksej Momot.

The aid convoy got to Vishgorod through a corridor for goods deliveries.

According to Momot, the damage in the sister city is relatively minor, although it is only about 20 kilometers from Kyiv.

So far, only military facilities have been affected in Vishgorod.

A Ukrainian garrison is stationed in the north-west and south-east of the sister city.

Otherwise it is comparatively quiet in Vischgorod.

However, they have now begun handing out assault rifles to the population.

"We are ready to fight," said the mayor of Vishgorod to his counterpart in Eichenau.

Tenne as headquarters

Countless donations are currently being collected in the threshing floor of the Fürstenfeld monastery - not only from the district: seven vans arrived on Wednesday evening, brimming with donations from the Berchtesgadener Land, says Florian Weber, one of the initiators of the collection.

Acquaintances in the Berchtesgadener Land had stated that there were no or only a few collection points.

Therefore, donations from citizens have now been bundled there and taken to the threshing floor in the Fürstenfeld event forum, around 180 kilometers away.

"We had actually planned with two vans," says Weber.

In the end there were five more.

More shipments should arrive on Thursday evening.

Weber therefore appealed to the helpers on Thursday morning via the Facebook group: “We need 30 people.

Otherwise we will have to stop acceptance.”

Fourth convoy is on its way

The donations have to be sorted and loaded.

The next aid convoy is already starting today, Friday – the fourth from Fürstenfeldbruck since Saturday – to Lublin (Poland).

Andreas Lohde will be there in a nine-ton truck.

The city provides the vehicle.

Lohde and two other helpers bring the donations to the Polish-Ukrainian border.

Another truck from the Malteser Hilfsdienst Gröbenzell and a supply vehicle from the BRK are driving with them.

"Around 16 tons of donations can be taken away," says Lohde.

Flea market for donations

However, some things from the threshing floor remain here.

A large part of the donated clothing cannot be used in the war zone.

That's why the Brucker helpers are organizing a second-hand market in the Tenne on Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"There are clothes for women, men and babies in all sizes," says Katharina Williams from the Subkultur association.

Sometimes there are branded clothes or unworn clothes.

“The proceeds will be donated to medical supplies and medicines.” Williams says anyone who wants to help sort things out for the market or in the threshing floor can drop by at any time.

"A lot is already done in half an hour."
