The State Government assures that the security company did not deploy the entire operation to which it had committed and the local Prosecutor's Office opens investigation folders for the crime of attempted murder

The world of soccer, and not only, woke up this Sunday shocked by the images that kept coming from Mexico.

Hours after the pitched battle between the fans of the Gallos de Querétaro and the Atlas, around 11 in the morning, the official balance was 26 injured people taken to the hospital, 3 of them seriously and no detainees.

Despite this, the Querétaro Prosecutor's Office has opened investigation folders for the crime of attempted murder.

The questions accumulate over the hours without the authorities having clear answers about what happened and why the tragedy could not be avoided.

The first thing that the authorities of the State of Querétaro reported is that the security company did not deploy all the elements that it had promised in the previous meetings about the operation to be deployed in the stadium.

Only the tragedy of Port Said, in Egypt, 10 years ago now, in which more than 70 people died and a thousand were injured, can be considered of a greater magnitude than that of the confrontation between the fans of the Gallos de Querétaro and Atlas.

With a very clear difference, then there was hardly any graphic record of the incidents themselves, while this Saturday the videos about the brutality of the alleged fans circulated in real time and made the version of the Mexican authorities question more than ever.

The images that circulated have questioned the official version that there were no deaths after the brawl, when bodies have been seen lying motionless on the ground after being beaten to exhaustion.

The authorities, however, assure that some of these people were later identified in the hospital.

"We will use all the technology to find each one of those responsible and that they never set foot in the stadium again," said Governor Mauricio Kuri.

Liga MX's reaction was also highly criticized.

Saturday's games continued to be played despite the images that came from Querétaro, and it was not until social pressure, especially through the networks, increased that the president of the League, Mikel Arriola, a former politician from the PRI, decided to suspend the day this Sunday.

However, there are many voices in Mexico that ask that, as a lesson and as a reflection, everything that remains of the League be suspended.

Something that, on the other hand, seems chimerical and that would further damage the image of a country that will host, along with the United States and Canada, the World Cup after this year's in Qatar.

The rivalry between the fans of Querétaro and Atlas dates back to 2007, when the red and black team, with nothing at stake, achieved a victory that sank the Gallos to the extinct First A, a kind of second category.

After that game there were some incidents, which left people injured and arrested.

Three years later, they met again in Querétaro and Corregidora was once again the scene of incidents.

Both clubs decided to prohibit access to visiting fans in successive years, but the measure was removed over time.

However, both fans have staged infamous shows over the past few years.

The most bloodthirsty fans of the Roosters, in October 2019, began a battle in the stands against the fans of Atlético de San Luis, the Atlético de Madrid franchise in Mexico.

That time there was only a threat of vetoing the field by the high command of Mexican soccer and they returned to normal.

In 2015, the Atlas Radicals invaded the field in a match against Chivas, their closest rival, with just 54 minutes of play.

The bar of the red and black team went down to the field to rebuke their soccer players who were losing 4-1, the police also lost control in the first few minutes, but they managed to protect the soccer players and close the entrances to the field.

That time only a dozen wounded and no deaths were counted.
