Discussing the investment mechanism of a number of industrial public sector facilities that stopped production and ways to avoid the effects of environmental pollution resulting from the outputs of the Homs refinery and the fertilizer and sludge plant in the Al-Duwair area, and suggestions to address the problem of stopping 10 salt refineries that formed the highlights of the meeting of Minister of Industry Ziad Sabbagh today with workers in the city of Hasya industrial.

Minister Sabbagh called during the meeting for the necessity of working as a team to overcome obstacles and increase the local product, especially with the entry of new facilities for work and production in the city.

Minister Sabbagh indicated that the expenditures resulting from the Homs refinery can be invested and converted into organic fertilizers, pointing to the ministry's follow-up to the issue of salt refineries to develop appropriate solutions.

This came after a tour by Minister Sabbagh that included a number of public sector facilities, some of which have stopped production, to assess their status with the aim of investing them in cooperation with the Homs Governorate, as well as facilities in the Hisya Industrial City specialized in “textiles, mills, glass, a company for metal industries, insulating panels, and a craft zone.”

In a statement to reporters, Minister Sabbagh confirmed that the tour comes as a continuation of a meeting that took place yesterday in Homs Governorate to discuss ways of employing companies suspended in production in other activities.

And he indicated that the ministry, through the formation of legal committees, is currently looking to find a legal formula for investing the stalled and destroyed government facilities as a result of terrorism. There are also studies prepared by the Homs governorate in this regard, pointing out that with regard to alternative energies, two companies have been established, one established by the Homs Chamber of Industry and the other for investors in Hassia and soon the start will be made. projects and installation of panels.

In a similar statement, Eng. Bassam Parsik, Governor of Homs, pointed out that the governorate and the Ministry of Industry had agreed on some stalled and damaged industrial sites and facilities that are not suitable for industrial activity for re-employment, noting that work on the housing project for workers in Hisya within the industrial city will continue.

The tour included the Homs Sugar, Dairy and Al Waleed Spinning Company, where the engineer, Yasser Ayoub, director of the sugar company, pointed out that the sugar and soap factories are currently suspended, while the yeast and alcohol factories continue to produce, while the engineer Muhammad Al-Hammad, director of the Homs Dairy Company, referred to the company’s investment plan for the current year, which includes the installation of a new production line. For cooked cheese, and that the value of the company’s products amounted to 10 and a half billion, with an implementation rate of 130 percent, and the value of sales is about 9 and a half billion pounds, with an implementation rate of more than 110 percent. The design production capacity of the company is 40 tons per day.

Engineer Mohamed Hammoud, director of Al-Waleed Spinning Company, explained that the 50-ton cotton received from the General Cotton Corporation was spinning for the current season, and the production process is at its end, as the entire production is sold to the public sector.

Dr. Bassam Al-Mansour, director of the industrial city in Hasya, and Labib Al-Akhwan, head of the Homs Chamber of Industry, participated in the tour and meeting.
