In the small town of Solonka, near Lviv in western Ukraine, Anastasia Pasko clumsily holds a Kalashnikov rifle.
She adorned herself with a little makeup on her drawn features, a smile and, above all, a lot of concentration.
A few days ago, this 18-year-old student had never touched a weapon in her life.

”, explains Mykola Pavlovsky, the military instructor in charge of this training for civilians.

It's my first time.
It's not very complicated, and then I want to have this skill
, ”smiles Anastasia.
Like many Ukrainian women, she is ready to take up arms.

To defend my house, if the Russians come this far
“, she specifies, even if she hopes never to have to do it.
If the region has so far been relatively spared from the Russian bombardments, everyone, women and men alike, are preparing for the war to come this far.
