However, people in Dachau do not only notice price increases at the petrol station.

Dachau – Gasoline prices are skyrocketing every day.

What do the drivers from Dachau say, what are the experiences of the petrol station operators?

The Dachauer Nachrichten asked around.

The reactions of petrol station operators and customers range from fatalism to great anger.

Fuel prices are exploding: It's not just getting more expensive at the gas station

I am affected not only privately but also professionally.

"Two euros is too much.

I signed an online petition for a fuel price brake,” says Markus Fritz, 40, a car mechanic from Dachau.

"They don't think that the high prices are due to the Ukraine war.

The red-green government is responsible for all the taxes.”

Fritz is convinced that the prices will not go down any more.

"That's quite a cheek.

I am affected not only privately but also professionally.

I try to drive less now and walk instead.

But as a car mechanic, I depend on people driving their cars.

By increasing fuel prices, politicians are hurting my job.

My existence and that of the entire automotive industry is threatened.”

"I have to drive the car.

Half my life is in the car, and I'm pissed off accordingly.

But it doesn't help.

As a self-employed person, I now have to charge more for my work.

I have to get it back somewhere else," says Lena Grund, 30, horse manager from Gröbenzell.

“One always has the fuel prices in mind.

I have my network and we call each other to find out which petrol stations are the cheapest.

My colleagues and I drive there because we're happy to pay ten cents less." Grund now hopes that "when the war has recovered, the prices will go down again."

By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Dachau newsletter.

Time will tell whether my self-employment is still profitable.

"I don't even dare to fill up.

But I have to drive a car for work.

My meat supplier has stopped delivering since gas prices have been so high.

For the amount of meat I need, it's no longer worth my suppliers now.

Now I have to pick up my 100 kilos of meat in Augsburg,” says Sadettin Özcakici, 36, who runs a kebab shop from Dachau.

“It will be a bit difficult with the public.

I had to make the doner kebab more expensive at 1001 Nights, but that's still not enough.

In the end, I'm still losing business.” Özcakici doesn't believe that fuel prices will fall again either.

"But I don't want to make my doner kebab even more expensive.

It shouldn't be a luxury," says the entrepreneur.

But: “I have to save that in the private sector.

So I got stingy.

Time will tell whether my self-employment will still pay off.”

High fuel prices: Even people without a driver's license are affected

I don't have a car yet, but I still feel the high fuel prices.

“I don't have a car yet, but I still feel the high fuel prices.

Two years ago, my brother paid ten euros less for a driving lesson than I do now,” says Anna Loders, 17.

"I'm still paying a fixed price - luckily it hasn't changed in the past week - but who knows what it will be like in a few months.

If things continue like this, young people won't have a chance to manage financially with their driver's license," says the student from Dachau

High petrol prices: Petrol station operators remain relaxed despite major impacts

Gas station operators, on the other hand, remain relaxed.

“We have been in talks with our customers for some time about the rising petrol prices.

And I have the impression that the customers accept that.

I keep hearing: We can't change that anyway," says Ivica Maric, the lessee of the Karlsfeld Allguth gas station.

He doesn't have fewer customers, says Maric, who claims to always be able to offer low prices compared to the competition.

At the time of the conversation, a liter of diesel cost him 2.17 euros and a liter of Super was available for 2.16 euros.

Franz Benischke, lessee of the OMV filling stations on Brucker Strasse in Dachau and in the Gada industrial park, has not yet been able to determine any major effects on the filling behavior of his customers.

“Normal operation” prevails at his pumps.

We simply have to wait, he says, then we have more information and figures on the subject and can make more precise statements.
