Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine

»It is evening in Kiev.

Our office Monday evening.

You know, we always say Monday is a hard day.

There is war in our country.

So every day is Monday.

And now we've gotten used to the fact that every day and every night is like this.«

Volodymyr Zelinskyj speaks to his people - and to the world public.

Sometimes several times a day now.

In the West he is celebrated for his performances and has become a symbol in the struggle for democracy and freedom.

And the people of Ukraine should see: their president is here – and acting.

»I'm not hiding.

I am not afraid of anyone.

I will do what is necessary to win our patriotic war."

As much as he has been admired in the West since the outbreak of war, Zelenskyy has not been able to get through with his demands for more military aid or a no-fly zone.

His appeals seem increasingly desperate, as here in an interview with US television station ABC News.

»I'm sure the President can do more.

I'm sure he can. And I'd like to believe he's able to do it."

But in the West, there is a preponderance of concern that stronger intervention would trigger a direct war between NATO and Russia.

Americans and Europeans want to avoid that at all costs.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President has to watch from his headquarters as Russian airstrikes reduce parts of Ukrainian towns and villages to rubble.

However, he still does not want to bend.

On Tuesday morning he published another selfie video - from Kyiv, without any protective clothing or helmet.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine

»It's snowing.

This is what spring looks like.

Spring is similar to the war we are experiencing.

Spring is hard.

But everything will be fine, we're fine.

We will win."
