China apparently refuses to supply spare parts for Russian aircraft in view of Western sanctions in the Ukraine war.

Moscow/Beijing/Munich – China has refused to supply Russian airlines with spare parts for aircraft, according to the Russian aviation security authority Rosawiazia.

The

daily

news reported online on Thursday, citing the Russian news agency Interfax.

Accordingly, Moscow will now try to procure spare parts from other countries such as India or Turkey.

The report is a signal that China apparently intends to comply with the international sanctions imposed on Russia in the Ukraine war - although Beijing has heavily criticized them.

The Biden administration reported Wednesday that China has largely complied with economic sanctions imposed on Russia by the US and other nations

, according to the

South China Morning Post .

China in the Ukraine war: tightrope act between all parties

Since the outbreak of the war, China has been walking a ludicrous tightrope between support for Russia and international neutrality.

This also includes condemning sanctions and at the same time complying with them.

The criticism from Beijing is always aimed at the United States and less against the EU – which has also issued sanctions.

Business relations with Europe are ultimately far more important for China than those with Russia, despite all strategic partnerships.

Chinese banks were therefore among the first to implement the sanctions in order not to become a target themselves.

For example, the Chinese-founded Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) suspended all activities related to Russia and Belarus.

China has also curbed its imports of Russian coal due to shaky financing as a result of the sanctions.

So far, most of the corresponding purchase contracts have been issued in dollars.

They are therefore subject to the Swift exclusion of many Russian banks.

It is unclear whether parts of the deliveries can be made with the Chinese currency, the yuan, in order to avoid the US dollar and thus the sanctions – and also whether Beijing wants that at all.

Because it would then become increasingly dependent on Russia.

The aircraft delivery stop shows once again
