An app will soon give Ukraine refugees an overview of the help available in Germany.
The federal government is "currently working on developing such a platform 'Germany for Ukraine', where you can see all the aid measures as a refugee at a glance," said Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (SPD) on the ZDF program "Berlin direct".
She hopes that "we'll have it finished in the next few days."
A similar app already exists in Poland.
However, the registration of war refugees is already taking place electronically, emphasized Faeser.
In addition, she is "in daily contact with country representatives" to solve problems with the admission of the refugees.
The federal government supports the Federal Police and the Technical Relief Agency (THW), and the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) is also involved.
The federal government plans to provide financial support to municipalities
The federal police have so far registered more than 135,500 Ukrainian war refugees.
Since there are no fixed border controls, the actual number of arrivals is likely to be much higher.
The Federal Minister of the Interior admitted that large cities such as Berlin, Hamburg and Munich in particular would be heavily burdened by the admission of the Ukrainians.
However, the municipalities would not have to bear the costs, Faeser said.
There will be some form of compensation.
"The costs cannot be left to the local authorities," she said on ZDF.
Faeser thanked many citizens and companies for their commitment.
It is "great what we really see in terms of great voluntary commitment," she said.
