The Pakistani ambassador to China, Moin Al-Haq, affirmed that the Sino-Pakistani cooperation within the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative has changed the economic landscape and brought about a transformation in Pakistan.
Al-Haq told Xinhua that "the Belt and Road Initiative has played and plays an important role in stabilizing the world's economies and strengthening countries' solidarity to face challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic."
"The projects of the Belt and Road Initiative benefit the Pakistani people by creating job opportunities, improving livelihoods, eradicating poverty and upgrading the remote areas," he added.
Al-Haq affirmed that his country has been seeking to achieve more cooperation with China in modernizing industry and information technology since Pakistan began working on establishing its own technological zones.
He pointed out that the economic corridor project between the two countries has transformed his entire country, adding that in addition to the port of Gwadar, the environmentally friendly Orange Line metro in Lahore, which was officially opened to traffic in October 2020, is a high-quality global public transport system.
