Moldova is facing the largest influx of refugees compared to the size of the country (2.6 million inhabitants).
Although the crossing points are few in number, in particular because of the closure of the borders with pro-Russian Transnistria, more than 300,000 Ukrainians have already entered this former Soviet republic.
They are 132,000 to have chosen to stay there.

The authorities have only about 6,000 places in 93 accommodation centers, including 39 in Chisinau, the capital.
As in Romania, it is civil society that is massively mobilizing to come to the aid of women, children and the elderly who are fleeing the fighting.
The hotels are crowded, 99% Ukrainians.
Some of them have rented rooms for one or two months.
They hope the war will end soon and they can return home.
But the authorities worry: without foreign aid, Moldova will not be able to manage the economic pressure…
