Beats Fit Pro review: The lightest, most comfortable and safest headphones for working out

2022-03-18T19:08:58.081Z

These Beats headphones have many features of the AirPods and stand out for their design with a flexible wing.

Beats Fit Pro are beautifully designed little headphones that integrate the best of Apple technology: active noise cancellation, spatial audio with dynamic tracking, adaptive equalizer, and a skin detection sensor.

At CNN Underscored en Español we had the opportunity to test this pair of purple headphones and this was our experience:

Design

A clear difference in the part of its construction is the adjustment wing, a very flexible element unlike the main features of other sports headphones.

Beats says it was made this way to fit a wider variety of ear shapes.

The important thing is to know if these wings make them comfortable enough to use during your session in the gym, a bike ride or to go for a walk with your pet and the answer is yes.

  • KlipXtreme Zaffire user experience: a good sound bar at a very low price

The wing adapts to your ear and makes you feel that the headphones are secure no matter what activity you do.

This element was a good decision by the company since the fit of each hearing aid is good and you will not even realize that the wing is there because it does not squeeze, bother or get in the way.

They passed the gym test and didn't sag even slightly during high-intensity workouts, something that's a challenge for many headphones.

It's important to mention that the Fit Pros are IPX4 rated for water and sweat resistance.

As in the company's Studio Buds, in the Beats Fit Pro (

 MX$4,799 or

$169 USD) controls are located at the 'b' logo on each earbud.

You'll need to press to change the song, pause the music, answer calls, and toggle between transparency and sound-canceling modes.

I liked the feel of the buttons because it's soft, but not soft enough to have accidental presses.

There will also be automatic pauses and they are made due to the optical sensors located on the back of the headphones (this technology is also found in the AirPods) and they detect when you remove them from your ears, so the music stops and so you can save battery.

As for the colors, you will find the Beat Fit Pro in black, gray, white and purple.

Included in the box are three sizes of tips for your ears and a short USB-C cable.

The Beat Fit Pro case

These headphones come in a case similar to that of the Powerbeats Pro (

 MX$4,291 or

 USD$198) although a little smaller.

As with that model, there's no wireless charging available, but the case does have a USB-C input for charging instead of Lightning.

The Beat Fit Pro have a hole in which they enter the box magnetically and I did not experience any mishaps in the charging processes.

The Beats app

Although they have an Apple H1 chip, the Beats Fit Pro are also compatible with phones with the Android operating system, although in this case they do lose certain features.

If you have an iPhone, pairing with these earbuds will require a single tap, even if it's the first time you've opened the case, all you have to do is tap a pop-up window on your iPhone and the earbuds are connected.

With an Android phone you will have to open the Bluetooth menu and put a device in pairing mode.

  • Why the Sony XB13 speaker is the perfect spring break travel accessory

The H1 chip also powers hands-free Siri and Apple's enhanced Find My features.

Finally, you also get Audio Sharing, so you can listen to music or watch a movie with someone who has headphones from Apple or Beats.

While in the application (available for iOS and Android) you can configure the controls on each hearing aid, manage the equalizer and also know the battery level of each hearing aid and the case.

Also, I was able to pass the audio playing on my Beats Pill+ speaker (

MX$ 3,699) towards the headphones in a matter of seconds with no problem to continue listening to the music when I had to go out.

Sound quality

As I have already told you, I have a playlist that some readers helped me create and that is intended to test headphones and sound systems.

The guitars of 'Empire Ants' stood out clearly and the bass sounded deep when it was the turn of 'Oxytocin' by Billie Eilish.

In various genres, sharp details popped out.

There's no question that the sound profile here is an improvement over the Studio Buds.

Thanks to the H1 chip, Beats Fit Pro works with Apple Spatial Audio.

This gives you the ability to listen to Dolby Atmos Music content in Apple Music, with or without dynamic head tracking enabled.

Spatial audio is also available for these hearing aids if you coordinate them with your iPad.

Like the latest AirPods, the Fit Pro are equipped with Apple's adaptive equalizer.

This feature is active when you turn off ANC and transparency mode, continuously monitors sound with internal microphones, and adjusts low- and mid-range frequencies to maintain consistent audio quality.

The feature also takes the shape of your ears into account when making its adjustments.

Voice call performance is pretty good, but it falls short of the AirPods.

If you use one of the headphones during a call, three microphones are used for voice calls.

When both headsets are in use, the voice system takes advantage of the five microphones.

Beats Fit Pro uses voice detection algorithms to help isolate your voice from background noise.

Conclution

Making the wingtips part of the core design was a gamble, but I felt it was a great way to make these headphones feel secure while you're out for a run or bike ride without the need for it to go all the way around your ear to protect them. .

As for these tips, all I can say is that they are the most comfortable I've had in my ears for long periods of time, and they succeed in keeping the Beats Fit Pro in place.

The case, the design of the earphones, and the included tips in various sizes made these earphones not only sound good and feel comfortable, but also look extremely beautiful.

To that we must add the variety of colors in which Beats has them available.

You can already find them in the market for

 MX$4,799 or

 USD$169.
